Walk trough Nerja
A place still exists on the Costa del Sol which lies between small coves ,untouched by development, and surrounded by an impressive mountain scenery. At the easterly end of the province, only 50kms from Malaga and within 1.5 hours drive from Granada, you will find Nerja, the touristic capital of the Axarquia.
With its mild climate, you can enjoy yourself the full year round and take advantage of the relaxed way of life of a village that still retains much of the character of its moorish past.
There are thirteen Kms of beaches, including the internationally famous Burriana beach that has once again been awarded by the Blue Flag of the European Union and the small coves below the impressive cliffs of Maro, which have been the inspiration of numerous artists who have set up residence here.
Nerja is located at only 1h30 from the Sierra Nevada which makes that it is a perfect city in the winter (Dec- Mar) if you want to combine a Ski Holiday with a beach Holiday. Nerja has mild temperatures in the winter with an average of 20° C all year round.
Nerja retains its traditional festivals: the Fair, Holy Week (Easter), the San Isidro pilgrimage and the festivals of San Juan are also celebrated in their own special way. There is a wide range of cultural events throughout the year. A special event is the Nerja's caves Festival , which takes place amongst stalactites and stalagmites. The Nerja Caves is currently the 3rd most visited monument in whole Spain.
